What used to burn in the fields now stays locked in the soil for centuries.
In Koduru, Andhra Pradesh, mulberry stem waste that used to be burned or left to rot becomes biochar instead. The biochar goes back into the soil and stays there. Carbon locked away long after any of us are around to check on it.
Punar means again. Jeevanam means life. Put together: life renewed. That's the bet here, that waste nobody wants can come back as something the soil actually needs.
We didn't build a factory. We built something one Gram Panchayat could run on its own land, at its own pace, and grow from when it's ready.
From field waste to carbon that stays put, in four steps.
Every step happens on or near the project site at Koduru, kept simple enough for the local FPO to run day to day.
Collect
Farmers around Koduru grow mulberry for silk, and once the leaves are picked, the stem is left over. That stem used to be waste. From Year 2, we'll also take on Prosopis juliflora, an invasive species that's taken over stretches of unused land nearby.
Pyrolyze
The stems go into open Kon-Tiki kilns, built to burn slow and clean behind a curtain of flame that keeps oxygen out. What comes out is biochar: solid, stable, most of its carbon locked in for good.
Enrich
Raw biochar isn't ready for a field on its own. We enrich it into compost first, so it does two jobs at once: storing carbon and feeding the soil.
Return & Lock In
Back into the soil it goes, and it stays there. Not for a season. Not for a few years. Centuries.
Four things happen at once, not one at a time.
Permanent carbon removal
Most climate fixes buy time. This buys permanence. Carbon locked into a stable form doesn't drift back into the air the way a rotting or burning field does.
Waste becomes value
Stem that used to be a problem is now the reason the kilns run. One farmer's leftover is this project's whole feedstock.
Healthier soil, better yields
Enriched biochar gives tired soil something to hold onto: structure, nutrients, water. Farmers get better ground to work, not just a smaller footprint on paper.
Women-led, community-run
This isn't run from far away. Chilamathur Agriculture and Allied Producers MACS Ltd, a farmer producer organisation that's entirely women-led, runs the kilns day to day. It's their land, their work, their outcome.

The project runs out of the Gram Panchayat's Solid Waste Processing Centre in Koduru Village, Chilamathur Mandal, in Andhra Pradesh's Sri Satya Sai District.
It exists because three parties put it in writing. 2dot0 Agritech Private Limited, Chilamathur Agriculture and Allied Producers MACS Ltd, and Gram Panchayat Koduru signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding on 28 April 2026, with the District Collector and the district government standing behind it.

Rainbow BiCRS
We're being certified under Rainbow's Distributed Open-Kiln Biochar methodology (RBW-BCR-DOB-V1.0), a standard written for small, distributed kilns like ours, not scaled down from an industrial one. That process is underway, not yet complete.

Planboo tracks what actually happens at the kiln, independently. We don't get to grade our own homework.
On-Site Hardware
Greenbox IoT monitoring hardware is going in on site now. Once it's live, verification runs continuously, not just when someone visits to check.
We're starting with one cluster. That's the point.

The person who started it.
Tejas Rajvihar Reddy
Tejas came back to India in 2018 after years as a firmware engineer in the US. He spent the next several years testing different ideas in sustainable agriculture before biochar clicked, around 2022. Punarjeevanam is what that decision turned into, and it's built to outgrow Andhra Pradesh, and outgrow mulberry stem, when the time comes.
